high-security keys and locks have discussed in the past, but what makes a high-security lock? Many manufacturers have at least a few high-security locks manufactured by them. So how do you know that you are getting what you pay for? Because you will be paying a lot more for such locks like a normal lock, you can get your local big box store.
Here are some things to look for in a high-security lock:
- The keys are made of locks and accuracy, rather than a general, CNC casting
- They are usually made of brass or steel
- If brass, it has been hardened steel pins embedded in the drill closes face protection
- The key and keyway must be protected by US and foreign patents
- The key should be empty to limit service centers and Locksmiths, on the basis of the contract for the production of key control
The above list is not exhaustive, but meant that the main points. There are a few items that I will continue to explain to some definition of words used that are not familiar to all.
Keyway: The simplest design is a keyway of a key, such as indentations, distance and angles and the corresponding design of the cylinder is manufactured. Some manufacturers combination cuts, spacing and angles of grooves cut along one or both sides of the key. These side effects will match the grooves in the lock grooves. In the patent application, these items, which are usually patented.
Key Control: This is the ability to control not only the key is empty, but the shortcuts. To prove this, let’s assume that the manufacturer will send 10 key blanks that one of the service centers. This service center cuts 10 vacant key in the security code from one of our customers. That the customer receives the keys and 10 speed records, to whom they give. In the process, the keys can be accounted for down to the end user.
This is a price that is at least 50% higher than the conventional lock used for the same purpose. This goes back to the same question; What do you want to protect, and how much is that worth to you.
